Tantric breathing.
The breath is our greatest tool in life.
It is the first thing we experience as we enter this beautiful world, and the last thing as we leave the body. Our breath remains our true and consistent companion to life.
In the ancient practice of tantra, the breath is honoured as the doorway to vast states of consciousness that we hold the potential to know and be.
Why the breath is honoured in tantra
Unlike other tools that can un-ground us, tantric breathing is a deeply embodied experience.
For we feel, know, and allow the expansion of breath from within. We meet the pathways it re-opens in the body, rather than denying the body or reaching beyond it.
Our breath is the bridge between our internal world and our external experience.
It is our connection to life, body and essence. Moving us from living separate from our own self, others and the world, and returning us to liberation, wholeness and connection.
The benefits of tantric breathwork
Tantric breathing reconnects us to the body and nurtures awareness of what the body needs.
It reawakens the senses, so we live a life more in alignment with the body than the head.
It regulates the nervous system and reduces stress hormones, supporting a felt knowing of calm and stillness as an accessible and sustainable experience.
Tantric breath moves and dissolves stored emotions and past traumatic experiences. The times in which breath was not accessible can be met and reset.
It supports the release of unhealthy patterns and behaviours.
As we move deeper into the body and release held tension, suppressed emotions and stagnant body stories, the breath creates space within.
Tantric breathwork elevates our vibrational energy. We reconnect and live more from natural presence, aliveness and creativity.
It rebalances and unites inner masculine and feminine energies, releasing internal battles and unhealthy behaviour patterns in relationship with self and others.
Tantric breath moves sexual energy from sex-driven to a union of love and sex. Sexual experiences become heart-centred and connected. We feel seen, known and met.
It is an alchemist, transforming and dissolving all that keeps us limited and small.
Tantric breathing restores playful innocence, transcending us into sexual maturity and liberation.
We come into wholeness of body, mind, essence, and an awakened heart experience with oneness.
What do I need to explore tantric breathwork?
Tantra is not a religion. I would not say it is even what our western world calls spiritual.
No belief is required. No nudity. No touch.
Tantric breath is an exploration.
It simply requires:
- willingness to experience
- curiosity and playfulness
- a longing for a heart-full life
- a desire for freedom
All you need is your body and your breath.
To immerse yourself in long, slow, connected and deep breath and exhale…
With a sigh that surrenders.
